Her bel canto singing was gorgeous

Soprano Randa Rouweyha has consistently earned high critical acclaim for her beautiful light lyric voice, her commanding stage presence, and her remarkable acting abilities.  She has been described by critics as a soprano who "sings with exquisite purity of tone and ringing clarity" (DC Theatre Scene), posesses "a sterling voice" (MD Theatre Guide), and an "amazingly strong performer" (DC Metro Theatre).  Cleveland Classical's recent outstanding review of her portrayal of Lucia in Donizetti's Lucia di L'ammermoore summed up her performance as such:  "Randa Rouweyha was stunning as Lucia. Her light lyric soprano voice, strong stage presence, and charm brought the role to life."  A  proud graduate of Youngstown State University and Peabody Conservatory of Music at Johns Hopkins University, Randa has sung numerous leading roles at several prestigious venues and opera companies; including the Kennedy Center's Washington National Opera under the direction of Maestro Placido Domingo; and The In Series, one of Washington DC's most highly innovative opera and musical companies.

Her recent appearances with Opera Western Reserve at Youngstown Ohio's beautiful historic Stambaugh Auditorium include; Lucia in Lucia di Lammermoor, Adina in Donizetti's L'Elisir d'amore, and Rosina opposite renowned tenor Lawrence Brownlee's Count Almaviva in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia.  Equally at home with oratorio and chamber music, Ms Rouweyha has been a soloist with several of Washington DC's respected chamber and choral ensembles, and a featured award winning recitalist for Vocal Arts Society's art song competition. In addition Randa was invited to perform a special solo recital overseas at the prestigious Al Bustan Music Festival in her land of origin, Lebanon.  Randa's affinity and love for languages has allowed her to sing in English, Arabic, Latin, Italian, Spanish, French, German, and Russian.  This past February she sang her first song in Chinese, Long River, at George Mason’s  Center for the Arts in observance and celebration of the Chinese New Year.  In addition to her busy performance agenda Randa Rouweyha maintains a teaching studio in Vienna VA.
